2nd Edition - EMMA HOPE NEWSLETTER

I copied this from one of the local papers:

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS SIGN BRISTOL RESIDENT
Associated Press - Yesterday, the New England Patriots signed a Bristol resident as a Defensive Tackle.  The signing should help the Patriots by greatly improving their previously lackluster pass-rushing, and by maintaining their strong defense against the run.  The signing also came as quite a surprise to the residents of Bristol, as many did not know that a neighbor was even being considered by a pro NFL team.  Although it has become commonplace for other professional sports teams to sign players directly out of high school, this marks the first time that an NFL team has signed a player that hasn't started college.  It also marks the first time for a professional franchise in any sport to sign a player while still in utero.  Not only will she be the youngest player to join the league, but Emma Hope Goldsberry will also be the first woman signed by an NFL team. When asked about the rather unusual signing, coach Belichick said: "A recent ultrasound estimated her weight at 5 pounds, 10 ounces, and that's at less than 36 weeks old.  Combine that kind of size with a woman's natural ability to prevent a man from doing what he wants, and you've got yourself a great defensive player."

---------------------

I don't remember which paper I saw that in....  Anyway, I guess part of me was waiting for some exciting news for another e-mail, but (thankfully) we haven't had any.  We had our monthly level 2 ultrasound at UConn last Thursday, and it went well.  We also stayed there for an NST (non-stress test) instead of going back to the regular OB/GYN for it.  That was good for us, because we got to take a quick tour of the whole Labor & Delivery area of the hospital which we haven't seen before.  We told the nurse that was showing us around the whole story, and she took the time to show us all of the important things, including the operating room where Amy will have the C-section, the NICU, the nursery, and the recovery rooms.  It was very impressive.  It was comforting to see that our State tax dollars were spent on something that was really going to help us.

Today we had another NST at the OB/GYN's office, and that went well also.  Emma doesn't seem to sleep for very long anymore, and she is usually awake for the tests which make them much easier and faster.  Amy also got checked for Strep, and I got to see the doctor poke her with a great big Q-tip. ...I'm sure you're all wondering why I had to include that...  Nothing exciting has happened - I get it where I can...  Amy is still having contractions every once in a while, and she takes the medicine one or two times a day to stop them.

In case any of you didn't get the schedule - we have one more NST this Thursday, then the amnio on Friday to make sure that Emma's lungs are functional.  If all goes well, the C-section is scheduled for Tuesday the 2nd at 8:15am.
